Webb seeking Marriage Officer candidates

The Town of Webb is seeking individuals interested in serving four-year terms as Marriage Officers. MaryAnn Nelson, whose term expires on May 9, 2014, is currently the only town-appointed officer, according to Webb Clerk Nanci Russell.

Even with Nelson committing to another term—and Town Justices John Graham and James Miller eligible to conduct marriages—a void remains in accommodating the growing demand of individuals wanting to say their marriage vows in one of the communities encompassing the Town of Webb, Russell said. Albany Leg. celebrates Adirondack region

Assemblyman Marc W. Butler (R,C,I-Newport) recently joined representatives from various organizations who came to Albany to advocate for preservation of the Adirondack Park and the region, and its accessible streams, trails and hunting grounds.

Many subjects, from wildlife preservation, to tourism, to economic development and health were discussed at the educational event.

“There is an abundance of natural wonder to marvel at in our Adirondack Park, and we are so fortunate for the ways in which it has shaped our communities,” said Butler.

Annual Meeting: Kiwanis elects officers

Forestport kids are eligible for free five-day sleepover at Camp Nazareth

Children ages nine to 15 who reside in the Town of Forestport are eligible to attend Camp Nazareth for one week free of charge. Available weeks for the four-night, five-day sleepover camp experience are July 13 to 18, July 20 to 25, and July 27 to August 1st.

Registrations and medical release forms are available at the Forestport Town Hall. Children living outside the town lines or grandchildren of residents are eligible for the camp’s group rate of $250 per week.  Continue reading →

Legion Post 893 receives surprise $2K donation for Wounded Warrior Project

Old Forge American Legion Post 893 recently received an unexpected donation of $2,000 in support of its Wounded Warrior Project from a Boston-area Andersen windows sales team.

The gift was prompted by David Sullivan, sales manager for Renewal by Andersen Corporation of Northborough, MA, who learned about the Wounded Warrior program last June while participating in the Legion’s annual golf tournament with his fiancée, Linda Valette of Old Forge. Continue reading →
