Old Forge American Legion Post 893 recently received an unexpected donation of $2,000 in support of its Wounded Warrior Project from a Boston-area Andersen windows sales team.
The gift was prompted by David Sullivan, sales manager for Renewal by Andersen Corporation of Northborough, MA, who learned about the Wounded Warrior program last June while participating in the Legion’s annual golf tournament with his fiancée, Linda Valette of Old Forge.
Proceeds of the golf tournament help fund the Legion’s project to provide an expense-free stay in Old Forge for soldiers injured in the line of duty and their families.
Traditionally, the families are invited to join the golfers at a post-tournament dinner at Thendara Golf Club…and that’s where Sullivan was inspired to help out with the effort.
“I was very impressed with the stories of the soldiers and their families, and decided then to try to raise money for this wonderful cause,” he said.
Upon his return home, Sullivan rallied his sales team—along with other Andersen sales reps—in support of the project.
“Their generosity is overwhelming. On behalf of the American Legion, I express a heartfelt thank you to David Sullivan and Renewal by Andersen for this unexpected show of generosity,” said Commander Bill Ransom.
