Isabella Worthen, Old Forge Library Director and Program Chairman of the Friends of the Old Forge Library, received the CNY/Arts 2016 Poetry and Illustration award at the 2016 Community Arts Grants Awards Ceremony held on Wednesday, April 20 at Syracuse International Airport.

During the ceremony, grants were awarded for arts programming in Herkimer, Cortland, Madison, Oneida, Onondaga and Oswego counties.

Winners of Old Forge Library poetry & illustration contest to be announced at reception, March 15

Winners and Honorable Mentions in the “Boundaries” Poetry and Illustration Contest at the Old Forge Library  will be announced during an Opening Exhibit Reception on Tuesday, March 15 at 7 p.m.

Prizes will be awarded by Emcee Michael Cunningham at the reception hosted by The Friends of the Old Forge Library. Continue reading

Following a Pointed Pine Quilters luncheon at the home of Barbara and Reed Proper on February 23, Louise Watson and Pauline MacDonald thought they would be spending their usual Tuesday afternoon quilting at the Old Forge Library.

But when they arrived at the library they were surpised to see it festively decorated and filled with family and friends who had gathered to celebrate their respective birthdays. Continue reading

Poet Genn Miley to host Open Mic Night, Feb. 17

Writers, aspiring writers, songwriters and members of the public are invited to the Old Forge Library’s Open Mic Night on Wednesday, February 17 at 7 p.m.

All are invited to share and read or perform from their own work or to come and enjoy readings by others.  Continue reading

Entries sought for Old Forge Library’s Annual Poetry and Illustration Contest

Entries for the Old Forge Library’s annual Poetry and Illustration Exhibit, following the theme of “Boundaries,” will be accepted from February 1 through  March 1.

Library Director Isabella Worthen said she chose the theme because it has several meanings, making it a broad topic. Continue reading

Old Forge Library to host Poetry Writing Workshops on January 23

The Old Forge Library will hold three Poetry Instruction Workshops on Saturday, January 23.

Christine Holt will lead a workshop for Kindergarten through 6th grade students from 10:00 am till noon.

Christine is a veteran teacher and school administrator in the Inlet School District and utilizes a variety of teaching methods to captivate student’s attention.   Continue reading
