Old Forge Library names judges for 2016 Sweetheart Dessert Contest

The Old Forge library will be celebrating Valentine’s Day with their annual Sweetheart Dessert Contest on Tuesday, February 9.

There are four categories: Youth Student, Teen Student, Adult and Master.

To enter the contest, create your favorite dessert and bring it to the library from 11am to 5 p.m. that day.

This year’s judges are David Berkstresser, Marianne Christy and Barb Getty. A reception will be held at the library at 7pm and the contest winners will be announced at 7:40 p.m.

The public is invited to stop by and enjoy all the entries from 7 to 8 p.m.

Old Forge Library to host reception January 8th for Mixed Media Exhibit

Patti Delano alsoAn exhibit featuring the work of local mixed-media artist Patti Delano will open with a reception at the Old Forge Library on Friday, January 8 from 5 to 7 p.m. The public is invited and refreshments will be served.

A self-taught artist, Delano started her love of paper crafting while working in a retail arts and crafts store 19 years ago.

Her love of paper crafts has expanded throughout the years and grown into recycled art, altered art, and mixed media. She also creates one of a kind recycled vintage jewelry pieces, and up-cycled/re-purposed furniture pieces.  Continue reading

Linking Lives through Reading slated for Old Forge Library

The fall session of the Linking Lives through Reading Program at the Old Forge Library is open to second graders in the Town of Webb and Inlet School Districts.

The inter-generational one-on-one reading program will be held each Thursday from September 24  through  October 20  from 3 to 4 p.m.  Continue reading
