The Central Adirondack Association (CAA) has announced the return of Old Forge’s Winter Carnival on February 5th through 7th.
CAA Events Coordinator Laurie Barkauskas said the Winter Carnival committee is excited to bestow this year’s royalty honors to Chris and Diane (Winslow) Gaige, of Old Forge.
“Their involvement with McCauley Mountain’s ski patrol, the Polar Bear Ski Club and the Town of Webb Union Free School District makes them the perfect King and Queen of Winter Carnival 2016,” Barkauskas said. Continue reading

The Adirondack Christmas on Main Street event in Old Forge over the weekend of Novem-ber 27 through 29 attracted hundreds of visitors to the area.
The three-day event featured unique shopping experiences, tree lightings, visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus, train and horsedrawn carriage rides, and lots of fun for the whole family.
A highlight of the weekend was the Friday night Light Parade up Main Street that led to Point Park for the tree lighting ceremony. Continue reading

Physical Therapist, Dr. Joanne Maly, has announced a new physical therapy office to be opened on December 1st at the Old Forge Fitness Center on North Street.
The location will offer out-patient physical therapy services directed toward those that may have had total joint replacement, rotator cuff repair, knee surgery, or other procedures, Maly said.
The office will be open Tuesdays and Thursdays, and will allow patients to be treated locally. Continue reading

For those people who do not know me, I was originally born in Jamestown, NY and moved around Pennsylvania. and Rhode Island as a child pursuant to my father’s career with Sears and Roebuck.

Cycle Adirondacks will pedal into Old Forge on Wednesday, Aug-ust 26 with over 200 cyclists and a support crew who will be headquartered at the George T. Hiltebrant Recreation Center on North Street.
Old Forge is the only two-day layover town on this seven-day tour which starts and ends in Saranac Lake.
The group will arrive Wednesday afternoon and will depart the morning of Friday, August 28. Continue reading

The 4th Annual Old Forge Triathlon drew 149 individual triathletes and 13 relay teams of runners, bikers and swimmers to the area on Sunday, August 16.
Athletes were to complete a four-mile run, an 18.5-mile bike course, and a 1,000 meter swim, however the swimming event was cancelled due to heavy fog.
Among the local participants were The Underdogs, a relay team that included biker Terry Murray, runner Kathy Rivet, and shut-out swimmer Erica Murray. Continue reading
