The Adirondack Christmas on Main Street event in Old Forge over the weekend of Novem-ber 27 through 29 attracted hundreds of visitors to the area.

The three-day event featured unique shopping experiences, tree lightings, visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus, train and horsedrawn carriage rides, and lots of fun for the whole family.

A highlight of the weekend was the Friday night Light Parade up Main Street that led to Point Park for the tree lighting ceremony.  Continue reading

Inlet hosting Holiday Dog Parade, Saturday, Nov. 29

Among the activities planned for Inlet’s Adirondack Christmas on Main Street is the Holiday Dog Parade on Saturday, November 29.

Dress your pooch in its holiday best and meet at the parking lot near the Church of the Lakes prior to the parade that will begin at 4 p.m. and end at the Inlet Town Hall.

All canine participants will receive a treat, compliments of Adirondack Reader.

Adirondack Images Photography will be taking professional photos of your pet from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at Screamen Eagle.

The sitting is free of charge with a suggested donation to the Stevens-Swan Humane Society. Additional prints can be ordered upon request.

Santa will make an appearance at 3:15 p.m.

Old Forge gears for ADK Christmas on Main Street

The ADK Christmas on Main Street committee has begun organizing this year’s event that will  be held the weekend of November 28, 29 and 30 and is requesting continued support by the community.

Businesses are encouraged to join in the festivities by decorating, hosting an activity and/or donating to the event.   Continue reading

‘Let It Snow’ 5K Run/Walk slated Sunday in Old Forge

Among the many activities planned for this weekend’s Adirondack Christmas on Main Street event in Old Forge will be the “Let it Snow” 5K Run/Walk on Sunday, December 8th.

The run/walk will begin at 9 a.m. at Point Park in the center of town and will take participants down the decorated Main Street, through the back roads of Thendara and back.

The flat course will appeal to runners and walkers of all ages and abilities.

Participants are encouraged to come dressed in holiday attire and along with prizes awarded to the top three male and female winners in each age category, there will be a top prize for the individual wearing the best holiday costume. Continue reading

A holly jolly time was had at Christmas on Main Street

The Adirondack Christmas on Main Street event in Old Forge and Inlet over the weekend of November 29, 30 and December 1 drew hundreds of folks to the area for a variety of activities that were enjoyed by family members of all ages.

Old Forge featured horse drawn wagon rides, stops at Candy Land, visits with Santa, Mrs. Claus and reindeer, tree lightings, and opportunities for unique shopping experiences.

Inlet provided a Candy Cane Hunt for kids, a viewing of How the Grinch Stole Christmas, a Noah’s Ark Workshop, a best holiday pie contest, pet photos with Santa, wine and chocolate tasting, caroling and the tree lighting.
