A limited number of Farmers’ Market coupons are still available for Herkimer County seniors.
These coupon booklets have a value of $20 and may be used to purchase produce at any participating Farmers Market.
To qualify, you must be over the age of 60, reside in Herkimer County, and have an income of $1,815 per month or less; $2,456 per month for two-person household.
You may also qualify if you are a Herkimer County resident over 60 and are currently receiving or eligible to receive SSI, public assistance, or a Section 8 housing subsidy.
State regulations require that a person must sign for the coupons themselves so coupons cannot be mailed and someone cannot pick up the coupons for someone else.
Also, only one coupon booklet per household is allowed.
Coupons are currently available on a first come first served basis at the Herkimer County Office for the Aging, 109 Mary Street, Herkimer, NY between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Coupons will be available until September 25 or until supplies last.
