Area voters took to the polls on Tuesday, April 19 to weigh-in on their candidate of choice in the New York state Democrat and Republican presidential primaries.
Herkimer County Board of Elections has reported county-wide wins for Democrat candidate Bernie Sanders and Republican Donald Trump.
In Congressional District 21, which includes the Town of Webb, Sanders received 245 votes (61.10%) to Hillary Clinton’s 156 (38.90%). Continue reading

The inch of snow that fell Friday morning, March 18 magically disappeared under sunny skies just in time for the launch of the Old Forge St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
Despite the chilly temperatures and the start of the Webb School break, parade organizers said there were more entries and spectators than in the past couple of years…giving announcers Nick Bankert and Gary Staab and Emcee Jeff Craig a lot to talk about.

At its regular monthly meeting held on Tuesday, March 8, the Inlet Town Board gave final approval for the construction and design of the veteran’s memorial in front of Inlet Town Hall.
Inlet’s Leonard Mick Roberts American Legion Post #1402 preliminary plan to redevelop the memorial was presented to the board by Post Commander Jerry Dupuis at its monthly meeting on February 9 and was supported unanimously. Continue reading

A crowd of Kinder-wood Preschool supporters gathered at the McCauley Mountain Chalet on Saturday, March 5 for the annual Snowmakers’ Ball.
The evening included a dinner buffet, live music by Joe Bolton, dancing and raffles.

The Town of Webb school girls and boys nordic teams, who earned positions on their respective NY state teams, competed in the NYSPHSSA Championships at Mt. Van Hoevenberg in Lake Placid on Monday and Tuesday, February 22 and 23rd.
The winners of the girls’ competition was determined by combined scores in a 7.5K individual race and a three-person relay race, with the boys competing in a 10.5K individual race and three-person relay.
The girls team placed second overall in the competition.
Henry Uzdavinis finished 12th in the individual race with a time of 30:26:3. Coupled with his time of 7:31:0 in the relay, he qualified to compete in the Junior National Nordic Ski Championships held in Cable, WI from March 6 to 13th.

The Town of Webb School Varsity Nordic Boys and Girls Teams, coached by John Leach, were each named Section III Champions by out-skiing their competitors at sectional races held Wednesday, February 10 at McCauley Mountain and Friday, February 12 at Osceola. Continue reading

At a Writers’ Night held at Five Corners Café on Tuesday, February 2, local writer and co-creator of the event, Melissa Macdonald, started off the evening by reading the e.e. cummings poem, i carry your heart with me.
