Area voters took to the polls on Tuesday, April 19 to weigh-in on their candidate of choice in the New York state Democrat and Republican presidential primaries.
Herkimer County Board of Elections has reported county-wide wins for Democrat candidate Bernie Sanders and Republican Donald Trump.
In Congressional District 21, which includes the Town of Webb, Sanders received 245 votes (61.10%) to Hillary Clinton’s 156 (38.90%).
In District 22, Sanders received 1,510 votes (55.29%) to Clinton’s 1,221 (44.71%).
Town of Webb District 1 totals showed Sanders with 87 votes (63.9%) to Clinton’s 49 (36%). (Results for Webb District 2 were not available at press time.)
In the Republican race, Donald Trump tallied 733 votes (58.55%) in Congressional District 22; John Kasich had 319 (25.48%); Ted Cruz had 181 (14.46%); and Ben Carson, who withdrew from the race but remained on the ballot, received 19 (1.52%).
Congressional District 22 showed Donald Trump with 3,222 votes (57.69%); John Kasich had 1,483 (26.55%); Ted Cruz had 796 (14.25%); and Ben Carson had 84 (1.50%).
In Webb District 1, Trump had 151 votes (54.3%), Kasich had 93 (33.5%), Cruz had 28 (10.0%), and Ben Carson had 6 votes (2.15%).

The Town of Inlet reported that 83 voters cast ballots in Tuesday’s primaries, which was described as a good turnout by officials at the Herkimer County Board of Elections.
In the Republican race, Donald Trump received 31 votes (52.5%). John Kasich got 23 votes (38.9%). Ted Cruz got three (5%). And Dr. Ben Carson, who withdrew from the race, but remained on New York’s ballot, received two (3.3%).
On the Democrat side, Bernie Sanders received 18 votes (66.6%) in the Town of Inlet. Hillary Clinton got six (33.3%).
