2015 Road Bike Tour Cycle Adirondacks to hit Old Forge, Raquette, Long Lake

Cycle Adirondacks will pedal into Old Forge on Wednesday, Aug-ust 26 with over 200 cyclists and a support crew who will be headquartered at the George T. Hiltebrant Recreation Center on North Street.

Old Forge is the only two-day layover town on this seven-day tour which starts and ends in Saranac Lake.

The group will arrive Wednesday afternoon and will depart the morning of Friday, August 28. 

The public is invited to North Street Recreation Center while the cyclists are in town.

Each evening there is a Beer and Wine Garden with food concessions as well as a free concert both nights at 7 p.m. by the Woody Pines.

There will also be a bike stunt demonstration by Sam Perkins.

Town of Webb and the Central Adirondack Association (CAA) will host an information booth at the recreation center, and local vendors will be set up from 5 to 8 p.m.

Cyclists will depart Friday,  for Long Lake.

Their route includes a scenic excursion to the Raquette Lake Village Green, The Adirondack Museum, Buttermilk Falls on North Point Road and continuing on Deerland Road to Main Street.

They will be camping on the Long Lake Ball Field with amenities including: three-catered meals a day, a wellness center, medical support, bike mechanics, yoga, a free device charging station, water bars, vendor village, a beer and wine garden and local evening entertainment by Alex Smith with Don Woodcock.

The public is invited to attend.

Volunteer groups will assist with water stops along the route as well as in camp infrastructure set-up and tear-down, valet luggage transport, food serving and hospitality.

The Long Lake Little Bus shuttle will be available all day providing rides to cyclists, volunteers, residents and visitors to help ease congestion and parking in the area and to get visitors to lodgings and local area attractions and businesses.

Wildlife Conservation Society is the host of this first fully supported road-bike tour of the Adirondack Park and beyond.

The non-competitive tour allows participants to cruise at their own pace and fully appreciate the Adirondack experience.
