‘Evening at the Albedor’ to benefit View performing arts programming

Tony Leiker and Craig Shaffer, owners of the Albedor, will open the doors of their historic Fourth Lake home to the public on Saturday, June 14 for a benefit in support of performing arts programming at View, the arts center in Old Forge.

The event will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. and will include a tour of the house and grounds of the landmark estate and hors d’ouevres provided by area restaurants Five Corners Café, Billy’s Italian-American Restaurant, Knotty Pine and The Woods Inn. Continue reading

Thunder in Old Forge returns May 30 & 31

The Central Adirondack Association will host the annual motorcycle gathering, Thunder in Old Forge,  on Friday and Saturday, May 30 and 31st.

The motorcycle event will kick off on Friday at 4:30 p.m., weather permitting, with live music by Paul Case and Sydney Pinto at Point Park in the center of town.

Shuttle bus service will be available both evenings from 7 p.m. to  2 a.m. The free service will transport guests to designated Thunder partner businesses. The cost to become a Thunder partner is $100.

Sorority sets Garage Sale benefit event

Old Forge Chapter Xi Gamma Iota of Beta Sigma Phi women’s sorority will be holding a Garage Sale on Saturday, May 24 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 2735 State Rte. 28 in Thendara, across from Bird’s Marine.

The sale will include furniture, household items, collectibles, glassware, games, and more.

Proceeds from the sale will allow the group to give back to the community through donations to local non-profits and assist with supporting other projects such as the Ginny Russell Scholarship Fund which is awarded annually to a graduating female senior at the Town of Webb School.

Registration under way for Old Forge Paddle Classic

Online registration is currently open for the 4th Annual Old Forge Paddle Classic, six- and 12-mile canoe and kayak races which will begin from the Old Forge public dock on Saturday, June 28th.

The points races, sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of the Central Adirondacks and held in conjunction with the New York Marathon Canoe Racing Association (NYMCRA), begin at 9 a.m. An awards ceremony and BBQ will follow the races. Continue reading
