Big Moose Chapel summer schedule starts on July 5th

Big Moose Chapel will begin its summer hours on Sunday, July 5.

Summer minister Rev. Dr. Richard McCaughey will lead two services at 9:30 and 11 a.m. each Sunday in July and August.

All are invited to enjoy refreshments between services. Sunday school and child care are offered at the first service.

The Chapel welcomes all who wish to attend.

Local 4-H members participate in Herkimer County electric workshop

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Herki-mer 4-H Program held a workshop on electricity on Monday, June 29 with a dozen 4-H members participating in hands on activities with simple circuits.

The youths worked in teams to create a simple flashlight using just a battery, bulb, and a piece of wire.

4-H members learned about wiring, lighting, safety issues, and more. Continue reading

St. Peter’s By the Lake: Restoration project begins at the historic church

from the lakeAfter more than a hundred years on the steep northern shore of Fourth Lake, St Peter’s By the Lake Summer Chapel has begun its first major restoration project that will secure the soil and provide proper drainage.

Fr. John Bassett, Priest-in-Charge of the chapel, has been talking about the need to “Keep St Peter’s BY the Lake and not IN the Lake” to parishioners and to engineers involved with the project. Continue reading

Town of Webb Police Dept. reports its recent law enforcement activity

The Town of Webb Police has reported the following law enforcement activity.

A 68-year-old Philadelphia, PA man was charged with Petit Larceny following an incident that occurred on Tuesday, June 9 at 6 p.m.

According to the report, investigation into a larceny complaint at Sisters Bistro in Old Forge resulted in the arrest of the defendant for the above said charge. Continue reading
