Old Forge: Annual Antique and Classic Boat Show returns July 11

2014 boat showThe 25th annual Fulton Chain Rendez-vous of the Antique and Classic Boat Society will be held on Saturday, July 11 in Old Forge.

Boats will be on display at the Old Forge lakefront for public viewing from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. 

The fleet will take off at 2 p.m. for a grand parade through the 1.5 mile channel that marks the beginning of the Fulton Chain of Lakes.

For many years this boat show has been facilitated by a committee whose members include Deke Morrison, Tom Maltby, Rob Kidd, Carol Hornick and Bill Ransom.

This year, Rob Kidd, who has worked on the committee since the earliest years of the show and has managed other area boat shows, has accepted the title of chairperson.

All members will still function as always.

The event is hosted by the Adirondack Chapter of the Antique and Classic Boat Society and co-sponsored by the Central Adirondack Association, Brooker’s Hardware and Lumber, Strand Theatre, Shelter, Water’s Edge Inn, Rivett’s Marine, Adirondack Bank, Water Safari/Enchanted Forest, T.A. Down Construction Co., DiOrio’s Supermarket, and Old Forge Camping Resort

Dunn’s Boat Service of Big Moose Lake will give free rides on their 1955 Chris Craft “Grace” during the show.

Lunch and snacks will be available for purchase from the Covey Pashley Legion Post.

Home baked snacks can be purchased from Friends of the Old Forge Library.
