Goodsell Museum to host annual fundraising Auction in Old Forge

The Town of Webb Historical Association’s annual benefit auction will be held on Saturday, July 11 at the Goodsell Museum located at 2993 State Route 28, across from the Old Forge Post Office.

The event will be held rain or shine under a large tent. All funds raised will go towards the operating cost of the museum.  Continue reading

Ballet legend Suzanne Farrell to present program at VIEW

VIEW, the arts center in Old Forge, will present a program, An Evening with Suzanne Farrell: Exploring the Life of a Ballet Dancer in the Adirondacks, on Sunday July 12 at 5 p.m.

During the program, Farrell, a longtime seasonal resident of the Eagle Bay area, will speak to the audience and her ballet students will perform.

Farrell is one of the most celebrated muses of George Balanchine—regarded as the foremost contemporary choreographer in the world of ballet—and  remains a legendary figure in the ballet world.  Continue reading

The 25th annual Fulton Chain Rendez-vous of the Antique and Classic Boat Society will be held on Saturday, July 11 in Old Forge.

Boats will be on display at the Old Forge lakefront for public viewing from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

During the show Dunn’s Boat Service of Big Moose Lake will give free rides on their 1955 Chris Craft, “Grace.” Continue reading

VIEW: Nick Ziobro returning for July 18th performance

2326628_orig*****Nick Ziobro, winner of the 2012 Great American Songbook Competition, will present an encore performance at VIEW, the arts center in Old Forge, on Saturday, July 18 at 7:30 p.m.

Ziobro, a 2014 graduate of Fayetteville-Manlius High School, performed before a sold out crowd at VIEW in July 2014.

Influenced by Frank Sinatra, Fred Astaire, and Louis Armstrong, he began singing and performing at a young age in the choir and vocal jazz ensemble, in addition to working in theater and dance.  Continue reading

Writers Workshop: Register now at Old Forge Library

The Summer Writer’s Workshops at the Old Forge Library will feature four-week sessions for both adults and young adults. The sessions will be held on  consecutive Wednesdays from July 15 through August 5. Young adults will meet from 4 to 5:30 p.m. and adults will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The director of the workshops is Katharyn Howd Machan, a professor of writing at Ithaca College with additional active roles in the Women’s Studies Program and the Gerontology Institute.   Continue reading

Red Hatters to meet, July 21

The Inlet Red Hatters will have lunch at the Adirondack Hotel in Long Lake on Tuesday, July 21.
