Old Forge Library to host annual Ad’k Storytelling & Music Fest

The Old Forge Library’s Adirondack Storytelling and Music Festival is scheduled to take place on Sunday, July 26 from 12 to 2 p.m. under the tent on the Forge Motel Knoll.

Award-winning musician, storyteller and author Joe Bruchac will host the event and will be joined by his son Jesse Bruchac, folksinger/songwriter Peggy Lynn and Adirondack Storyteller Bill Smith. Continue reading

Farmers Market coupons available on July 24th

Coupons can be used to purchase fruits and vegetables at any participating Herkimer County Farmers’ Market.

You qualify if you are at least 60 years of age and have a monthly income at or below

$1,815 for a one-person household, $2,456 for a two-person household, $3,098 for a three-person household, or are at least 60 years of age and currently receiving or eligible to receive SSI, food stamps, public assistance, or Section 8 housing subsidy.

Booklets are limited to one per household.

Coupons will be distributed at the Old Forge Farmers’ Market on Park Avenue on Friday, July 24 from 2 to 4 p.m.

Community celebrates the life of Tayler Schmid at McCauley Mt. event

Family and friends of the late Tayler Schmid gathered at McCauley Mountain on Thursday, July 23 to honor Tayler’s memory on his 18th birthday.

The family-friendly event, which raised funds for the organization, Families for Depression Awareness, included food, beverages, raffles, children’s games, activities, and a Riggies Cook-Off.

Music was provided by  Paul Case, Jim and Gwen Tracy, John Kelsey & Brian Mulkerne, Joe Bolton, Chloe Barkauskas, and Alisha Robinson.

The evening ended with a lantern release at 10 p.m.
