Elmer Crounse, 84, passes away

Elmer Crounse, 84, of Tuttle Road, Old Forge, NY, passed away on February 22, 2015 in Honolulu, HI.

Mr. Crounse was born in Albany, November 15, 1930, son of Elmer and Charlotte Crounse. He was educated in the Albany Schools. In 1955 he married Noreen Fisher.    Continue reading

Gov. Cuomo announces plan to modernize State Park system

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo unveiled a seven-point framework of the NY Parks 2020 Plan that will leverage approximately $900 million in public and private funding to modernize the State park system.

The announcement was made on Monday, March 2, but NY Parks 2020 was previewed in the Governor’s Opportunity Agenda.  Continue reading

Virginia B. Hesse, 96, passes away

Virginia Barnes Hesse, age 96, of the Lutheran Home, Clinton, N.Y., formerly of Old Forge, Dolgeville, Utica, N.Y., and Los Angeles, CA passed away on March 3, 2015.

She was predeceased by her husband George, of Utica in 1978, her sister, Marian Gould of California in 1976, her daughter-in-law, Linda J. Hesse of Marcy in 1994, and her granddaughter Kimberly Hesse of Michigan in 2014. Continue reading

Services planned for Dr. Robert Danner, 91

Dr. Robert Danner, a prominent Utica dentist who practiced from his downtown office on the corner of Park Avenue and Hopper Street for nearly half a century, died on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at his home in Boca Raton, FL, where he had lived since his retirement in 1998. He was 91 years old.

Danner was born in Utica in September 1923 to William Danner and Celia Starman Danner. He attended John F. Hughes School and Utica Free Academy.  Continue reading

Town of Webb Board of Education holds March 3 meeting

The Public Hearing regarding the review of the Roof Reconstruction Project was held at 6:00 pm. Chris Crolius, Architect, March Associates gave a power point presentation regarding the project.

A Voter Registra-tion Meeting was held on Thursday, March 5, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the library hallway. Anyone not currently registered on the county voter registration rolls for the Town of Webb UFSD was able to appear and register to vote for the school Roof Recon-struction.

On Wednesday, March 11, the Roof Reconstruction Vote will be held from 2 to 9 p.m. in the gym. Continue reading
