From Main Street to the top of McCauley Mountain, St. Patrick’s Day was commemorated in many ways in Old Forge over the weekend of March 13, 14 and 15.

The 5th and 6th grade students at Inlet Common School participated in a Science Fair on Monday, March 16.
The students researched a topic of their choice for the last several weeks and used the Scientific Method to complete their projects. The projects included topics such as: Which liquid makes bubbles last longer? What makes ice melt faster: salt, sugar or dirt? Which chocolate melts the fastest? Continue reading

Friday March 13 was a fun day for SHARP participants. We rode in the festive St. Patrick’s Day parade, and enjoyed some delicious soup and homemade soda bread at the Old Forge Fire Hall.
The entertainment at the fire hall was an Irish singalong, and everyone knows that the Irish in Old Forge take their fun very seriously. Continue reading

Bob Liddle started playing the clarinet in the fifth grade and was encouraged by his high school band teacher and his parents to pursue a career in music.
He graduated from Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam with a Bachelor of Science degree in music education in 1959. After college he performed in Hawaii with a big band. Continue reading

It was St. Patrick’s Day of 1975 and the students and faculty of the Inlet Common School marked the occasion with holiday-themed art projects and green cookies at snack time.
With two to three feet of snow in yards and the sap still far from flowing from the Maple trees there was no opportunity to go outdoors and look for four-leaf clovers. Continue reading
