Inlet Historical Society to host Walking Tour

Inlet Town Historian  Letty Haynes and Inlet native Waddie Kalil will lead a historical walking tour of the Inlet business district on Saturday, August 16th.

The tour, sponsored by the Inlet Historical Society, will begin at 10 a.m. and will  focus on the people, places and businesses that formed Inlet’s rich history.

It will begin from the Inlet Common School and proceed down Main Street, ending at the Historical Society building. All are welcome.

Programs set at Woodgate free library

The Rome Investigators of the Paranormal will present a program, Searching for Bigfoot, at the Woodgate Free Library at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 16th.

On Wednesday, August 20, Master Gardener Margaret Murphy of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oneida County will offer a program on Container Gardening at 7  p.m.  Continue reading

Forestport Garden Club to host garage sale

The Adirondack Forever Wild Garden Club will hold a Garage Sale at the Forestport Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall on Woodhull Road on Saturday, August 23rd.

The sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., in conjunction with the Old Forestport Days celebration.

A raffle for a huge garden-themed basket will take place at the end of the day. The winner need not be present to win. Proceeds of the sale will help fund local community projects.

Services planned for Arthur B. Brockner, 83

Arthur B. Brockner (Brock), 83, a resident of Inlet for 18 years and formerly of Hopewell Junction, died on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

Born in Mount Vernon, NY on February 2, 1931, he was the son of Arthur M. and Catherine Bell Brockner. Art served our country in the U.S. Navy and was employed as a manager at John Charles Limited, a retail clothing store in Tarrytown. Continue reading
