Lloyd Schafer watercolor raffle to benefit the Old Forge Library

Linda and Sarah Cohen of Old Forge have donated an original Lloyd Schafer watercolor to the Old Forge Library for a fundraising raffle.

The painting is on display in the library wing. Chances are available at the library and are $20 each. Only 100 tickets will be sold.

The drawing will take place when all of the tickets are sold.

Schafer was a well known area artist who painted and sold hundreds of watercolor paintings and art works.

Following his retirement as a design engineer at Remington Arms of Ilion, he opened an art studio at Singing Waters outside of Old Forge.

Schafer, who passed away in 2008, was also known for contributing his talent to benefit community projects and organizations.

For many years he donated his paintings for raffles to benefit the library. He was also an active member of the Arts Guild of Old Forge.

More information is available by calling the library at (315) 369-6008.
