VIEW: ‘Broadway Meets Opera’ returning Thursday, August 21st

International opera star Marianne Cornetti and pianist Joan Krueger will perform at VIEW’s 4th annual Broadway Meets Opera event on Thursday, August 21 at 7:30 p.m.

The show is an infusion of opera and Broadway classics sung by Cornetti, a world-renowned opera sensation.

She will sing arias from La Favorita, IL Trovatore, La Gioconda, and Samson and Dalila as well as Broadway classics from The Merry Widow, Carousel and My Fair Lady.

Antique appraisals coming to Goodsell Museum

The Town of Webb Historical Association will offer visitors and members an opportunity to get an appraisal of up to three vintage or antique items on Saturday, August 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Goodsell Museum in Old Forge.

Matthew Scheidelman, an antique dealer with 35 years of experience, will meet individually with people in the research room at the museum to discuss the fair market value, age and other information about their items for a donation of $10.   Continue reading

Jonny Hirsch to play at Old Forge lakefront, Aug. 17

The Summer Concert Series held on the Old Forge Lakefront on Sunday evenings at 7 p.m. will feature Jonny Hirsch on August 17th.

Fusing elements of rock, funk, jazz, and skat singing with a powerful voice and a dynamic saxophone, Hirsch’s music has an original sound of its own while staying true to its roots in new age blues and funk.

All are welcome to bring a chair or blanket and enjoy the free concert.

Falling Leaves Craft Fair set

A Falling Leaves Craft Fair is scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 30 at the Park Avenue Building in Old Forge.

Local produce demonstrations set at Old Forge Farmers’ Market

Personnel of Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) of Herkimer County Eat Smart NY Program will be available at the Old Forge Farmers’ Market on Friday, August 15 to showcase the benefits of enjoying local produce.

Recipes, food samples, and preservation ideas for using fresh produce will be shared along with the new 2014 Herkimer County Local Foods Map.
