The 33rd annual Adirondacks Exhibition of American Watercolors at VIEW will open Friday, August 8, featuring the work of over 70 artists who come from all across the continental United States and Canada.

The First Friday Art Walk in Old Forge on August 1 will feature a variety of venues for art lovers to shop, eat, listen to music, meet artists and view demonstrations from 5 to 8 p.m.
Chad Smith, a landscape and portrait painter, will be the featured artist at Gallery 3040, during the First Friday Art Walk in Old Forge on August 1st. An award-winning artist, Smith was most currently Best of Show Winner at the 2014 Finger Lakes Plein Air Festival. His work is displayed at galleries across the country, including Gallery 3040.
First Friday Art Walks run through October and include a raffle for a unique item each month.
To enter, a participant can pick up a card at any First Friday location and have it stamped.
The card can be dropped off or carried to other First Friday locations for stamping.

An opening reception for the Old Forge Library’s latest exhibit, Main Street and More, featuring the work of award-winning artist Gordon Bashant, will be held Friday, August 1 from 5 to 8 p.m. as part of the First Friday Art Walk.

What happens when someone applies for an Area Variance gets it approved but never builds the project?
Unlike a building permit that expires in twelve months, an Area Variance “runs with the land” and does not expire, unless the approval had a condition that said it expires if the project is not built within “X” time.

A group of area singers will perform a variety of tunes at a concert, Singing the Whole Year Through, at Niccolls Church on Thursday, August 7 at 7 p.m.
Robbie Craig and Sarah Beck rehearse “American Spirit on Parade,” one of the many summer-themed and patriotic tunes that will be performed during the concert.
The musical program includes songs the whole family will enjoy. Admission is free, however donations will be accepted in support of the purchase and installation of a sound system in the church’s public rooms that are used by many adult and youth groups throughout the year.
