Despite the above average temperatures, the Big Moose Lake Shoot-Out held on Big Moose Lake, on Saturday, February 20 had a pretty good turnout, according to Jim Huss Sr., a spectator of the event.
Since parking was not permitted on the lake this year, due to unsafe ice conditions, cars, trucks and trailers were rerouted to park along Big Moose Road and Glenmore Road. Continue reading →
The annual Big Moose Community Chapel Balsam Bee will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., Saturday, July 25, at the Chapel, which is located five miles west of Eagle Bay on Big Moose Road.
All are welcome to join in this long-standing, local Adirondack tradition of making balsam pillows which will be sold at the Chapel’s annual Bazaar on August 1. Continue reading →

Shoes dangle from utility lines across Big Moose Road.

The 2015 summer season has begun and numerous tourists are visiting the Adirondacks to explore the area. Shops, restaurants, grocery stores and gas stations line both side of Route 28 (Main Street) in Thendara, Old Forge, Eagle Bay, Inlet and beyond.

On Thursday, April 30 our home of 40 years was destroyed by fire at Big Moose Station.
We are forever grateful to the firefighters that battled the ornery blaze for so many hours.
The men and women of four departments clearly displayed expertise, professionalism and aggressiveness throughout the battle and because of this we were able to retrieve a few precious mementos in the following days. Continue reading →
