Town of Webb School hosting an election day Chicken BBQ

The Webb Way Committee at Town of Webb UFSD will be holding a Barbecue Chicken fundraiser on Tuesday, May 20, the day of the school budget vote.

The dinner will consist of barbecue chicken breast, coleslaw, potato salad, beverage, and homemade dessert. (As a meatless alternative, veggie burgers will also be available, upon request.) It will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Town of Webb School cafeteria.  Continue reading

Polar Bear Tent Sale set June 7

The Polar Bear Ski Club’s annual tent sale will be held Saturday, June 7 in the parking lot across from George’s Thing and Liquors on Route 28. Sale hours will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Anyone wishing to make donations to the sale can drop them at the site beginning Thursday, June 5th. If you need assistance in getting items to the sale please contact Laurie Barkauskas at (315) 369-8107 to arrange for pick up.

All proceeds of the sale will help support the Polar Bear Ski Club’s youth Alpine, Nordic and Biathlon programs.

Returning Kathy Nahor to Board of Ed. ensures continuity of experience

Please support Kathy Nahor as a write in candidate for the Town of Webb UFSD School Board in the election next Tuesday. Nahor has served on the board for over ten years and is currently the school board president.

I have attended a great many school board meetings, both before and during Nahor’s time on the board, and believe she is among the best board members I have seen.

Nahor effectively advocates for student opportunities while simultaneously being fiscally responsible. Continue reading

Services held for John P. ‘Jack’ O’Hern, 81

Jack would like to announce his change of address to St. Mary’s, Lot 1138, Section 82, under the big oak tree. He died peacefully at home on May 7, 2014 with the Yankees on TV in the background. 762020

He previously lived in Syracuse and had moved to Old Forge, NY in 1999. He was an electrician with the IBEW, Local 43.

He was a member of the Old Rascals. He served in the US Army in Korea (but we don’t talk about that.)

He was predeceased by his wife, Pat and son-in-law, Chuck.  Continue reading

Services set for passed area residents

A burial service for former Town of Webb Police Chief Robert Crofut, who passed away on December 5, 2013, will be held at Riverview Cemetary in Old Forge on Thursday, May 22 at 2:30 p.m.

A memorial mass for J. Claude Lecours, who died December 14, 2013, will be held on Saturday, May 24 at 11 a.m. at St. Bartholomew’s Church on Crosby Blvd. in Old Forge. Continue reading
