The Webb Way Committee at Town of Webb UFSD will be holding a Barbecue Chicken fundraiser on Tuesday, May 20, the day of the school budget vote.
The dinner will consist of barbecue chicken breast, coleslaw, potato salad, beverage, and homemade dessert. (As a meatless alternative, veggie burgers will also be available, upon request.) It will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Town of Webb School cafeteria. Continue reading
The Polar Bear Ski Club’s annual tent sale will be held Saturday, June 7 in the parking lot across from George’s Thing and Liquors on Route 28. Sale hours will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Anyone wishing to make donations to the sale can drop them at the site beginning Thursday, June 5th. If you need assistance in getting items to the sale please contact Laurie Barkauskas at (315) 369-8107 to arrange for pick up.
All proceeds of the sale will help support the Polar Bear Ski Club’s youth Alpine, Nordic and Biathlon programs.
Free public parking of boat trailers at the Old Forge ice skating rink location, during summer, was discussed by the Town of Webb Board at its monthly meeting on Tuesday, May 13th, at the town’s Municipal Building.
“What began as an accommodation to try to serve tourists, I believe is getting out of hand, especially last summer,” said Ted Riehle, Town of Webb Supervisor.
Some trailers had remained so long, unmoved, that weeds sprouted, said Councilwoman Kate Russell. Continue reading
Please support Kathy Nahor as a write in candidate for the Town of Webb UFSD School Board in the election next Tuesday. Nahor has served on the board for over ten years and is currently the school board president.
I have attended a great many school board meetings, both before and during Nahor’s time on the board, and believe she is among the best board members I have seen.

Jack would like to announce his change of address to St. Mary’s, Lot 1138, Section 82, under the big oak tree. He died peacefully at home on May 7, 2014 with the Yankees on TV in the background. 
He previously lived in Syracuse and had moved to Old Forge, NY in 1999. He was an electrician with the IBEW, Local 43.
He was a member of the Old Rascals. He served in the US Army in Korea (but we don’t talk about that.)
He was predeceased by his wife, Pat and son-in-law, Chuck. Continue reading

In November 1906, Frank Williams would join several other Inlet residents in testifying at the Chester Gillette murder trial for the Grace Brown murder on July 11, 1906 at Big Moose Lake.
According to Frank, Gillette came to the Seventh Lake House on the day after the murder with a boat rented from the Arrowhead boat house.
After paddling around the lake, Gillette wanted dinner at the hotel and signed the hotel register, “Chester Gillette, Cortland,” the register page being Exhibit 47 for the court. Continue reading
