The Town of Webb school’s Pick A Reading Partner (PARP) will kick-off their 2016 program for students in grades kindergarten through fifth on Friday, February 19th in the school’s distance learning room.
This year, the program adopted a new name. PARP had previously stood for Parents As Reading Partners.

The Town of Inlet Board voted unanimously in favor of a proposal by Inlet’s Leonard Mick Roberts American Legion Post #1402 to redevelop the war/veteran’s memorial in front of Inlet Town Hall.
The vote was taken during the Board’s monthly meeting on Tuesday, February 9th.
Legion Commander Jerry Dupuis presented the preliminary design concept drawn by local architect Jeanne Whyte, whose service was retained by the Post. Continue reading

Code Enforcement Officer Andy Getty talked to the Town of Webb Board on Monday, February 15, about temporary signage clutter and what is allowed and what is prohibited by the local sign ordinance.

The Old Forge Fire Department has sent out applications to last year’s ticket holders for their annual Big Bucks Give-A-Way, and as a means of encouraging early entries for this year’s event on Sunday, September 18, they will conduct three early bird drawings.
Entries received before March 15 will be eligible for a drawing to win $250; entries received before April 15 are eligible to win $150; and those received by May 15 could win $100.
Drawings for the early birds will be held on the 16th of the month and winners will receive a check in the mail. Continue reading

In the continuing effort to secure mental health services locally we have engaged in a number of meetings with various agencies and groups including Catholic Charities, The NYS Office of Mental Health and The Neighborhood Center.
Right now we are looking at implementing a program called Sources of Strength within the school.
The training for this will begin soon and involves our students as well as volunteer staff mentors. Continue reading

I have to say, the present state of world affairs affects me in much the same way.
