Former Old Forge resident Derek Pross and his wife Stephanie Gadino Pross, winemakers at Gadino Cellars of Washington, VA, received a Gold Medal for their 2010 Nebbiolo at the Virginia Governor’s Cup Gala held in Richmond, VA on Monday, February 22nd.

Over 400 wines were entered in the competition which is considered one of the most stringent competitions in the country.

The competition was held in Richmond in January and is only open to Virginia wines made with 100% Virginia grapes.  Continue reading

CAP-21probes interest in Main Street revitalization funds

The Central Adirondack Partnership (CAP-21) is interested in hearing from owners of commercial buildings and mixed-use properties (business and rental apartments), as to their interest in participating in a New York State Main Street Program.

The NY Main Street program may provide up to 50% of building renovation and remediation costs for buildings within an identified core revitalization area.

The intent of Main Street is to improve the appearance of the business district, promote downtown revitalization, and to boost additional private investment.  Continue reading
