Get your early bird tickets for Old Forge Fire Department Big Bucks Give-A-Way

The Old Forge Fire Department has sent out applications to last year’s ticket holders for their annual Big Bucks Give-A-Way, and as a means of encouraging early entries for this year’s event on Sunday, September 18, they will conduct three early bird drawings.

Entries received before March 15 will be eligible for a drawing to win $250; entries received before April 15 are eligible to win $150; and those received by May 15 could win $100.

Drawings for the early birds will be held on the 16th of the month and winners will receive a check in the mail. Continue reading →

Old Forge Fire Department announces 2015 Big Bucks Give-Away winners

The Old Forge Volunteer Fire Department’s Firefighter’s Drill School ‘15 ended on Sunday, September 20 with the drawing for the winners in the Big Bucks Give-Away raffle.

A large crowd was gathered at the fire hall as the winning names were announced.

Taking the top prize of $9,464 was Anthony Povero of Montour Falls, #1422 The second place winner of $5,096 was Paul Mirate of Raquette Lake,#159. Continue reading →

Old Forge Fire Dept. draws Early Bird ‘Big Bucks’ winners

The Old Forge Fire Department has announced the winners of the Early Bird Drawings of their annual Big Bucks Give-A-Way fundraiser.

Bob Breese of Richfield Springs took the $250 prize when his ticket #55 was pulled on March 15. The winner of the $150 prize pulled on April 15 was Barbara Rogers of Lafayette with ticket #448. And winning $100 on May 15 were Bea and Richard Morrin of Waterloo, who held ticket #94. Continue reading →

Prize money awarded at OFFD’s Annual Big Bucks Give-Away

The Old Forge Volunteer Fire Department’s Firefighter’s Drill School ‘14 wrapped up on Sunday, September 14 with the drawing for the winners in the Big Bucks Give-Away raffle.

A large crowd was gathered at the fire hall as Jamie Loson  pulled the winning names.

Taking the top prize of $9,158.50 was Arlene Bolmer of Old Forge.

The second place winner was Brian Murphy of Old Forge who won $4,931.50.

Old Forge Fire Dept. awards $52,500 to winners in annual Big Bucks give-away

The Old Forge Volunteer Fire Department’s Firefighter’s Drill School ‘13 wrapped up on Sunday, September 15 with the drawing for the winners in the Big Bucks Give-Away raffle.

A large crowd was gathered at the fire hall as Robert Moore  pulled the winning names.

Taking the top prize of $9,750 was Lisa Szot of Utica with lucky ticket #743.

The second place winner was Mary Henry of Raquette Lake who won $5,250 with ticket #243.

Charles Pennica of Rochester came in third place and was awarded $4,500 with ticket #758.

Fourth place winner of $3,750 was Paul Pratt of Chatham with ticket #558.

The four 5th place winners, each taking home $3,000 were: Tom Morley of Hackttstown, NJ – #194; Jarl and Ann Hasby of Old Forge – #1248; Sharon Daviau of Liverpool – #955; and Rachel Pocchiari of Old Forge – #1409.

There were four 6th place winners of $1,500: Myrtle Smith of Stony Point – #309; William Maher of Wappingers Falls – #1112; Linda Whiteman of Herkimer  – #650; Kathy Phillips, of Penn Yan  – #1158.

BIG BUCKS: Three local women split top prize of nearly $12,000

The Big Bucks Give-A-Way, a major fundraiser drawing for the Old Forge Fire Department, was held Sunday, September 18, at the close of Annual Firefighter’s Drill School.

Prize money is based on the number of tickets sold and this year there were 62 cash prizes awarded.

The Grand Prize of $11,882 was shared by three local women with their winning ticket #1869.

The lucky ladies were Valerie Risley and Dawn Lenci of Old Forge and Dionne Burr of Forestport.

Risley and Burr both work at the Adirondack League Club, where Lenci had also worked for 20 years, before leaving in July for a Financial Manager’s position at View.

The three women have shared two Big-Bucks tickets for the past eleven years.

Risley said that 15 years ago, she and Dawn Lenci also won the car on Labor Day Weekend at the Lakefront by sharing a ticket with Beverly Perkins and Ann Croneiser, and they also won $1,000 that night.

But this is the first time they won the Big Bucks. Continue reading →
