Puppet Master Ken Carman returns to Old Forge with a puppet show on Saturday, August 8 at 1 p.m. that will take place at the outdoor patio of Five Corners Café at 3067 Main Street.
Carman, who has presented several puppet shows in Old Forge in the past, will present an original show, The Ghost of the Slimey Humperschnitzel with the Purple Mouth. Continue reading
A reunion of former employees of the telephone company in Old Forge, Lowville and Boonville areas will be held on Saturday, September 12 from noon to 3 p.m. at The Central Restaurant and Lounge located on Main St in Glenfield. Continue reading
The 7th annual Ice Cream Social, sponsored by the potters at VIEW, will take place on Friday, August 7 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Point Park in the center of Old Forge.
Hand-built ceramic bowls made by the potters can be purchased with ice cream provided by Mercer’s Dairy of Boonville. There will be a variety of ice cream available as well as sundaes. Continue reading
Colleen Cleveland will perform a musical program, From Ireland to the Adirod-acks: 5 Generations of Songs and Ballads, at the Old Forge Library on Tuesday, August 11 at 7:30 p.m.
Colleen is a descendant of Scottish and Irish settlers to the Brant Lake area of the Adirondacks. Her grandmother, Sara Cleveland, was a nationally recognized ballad singer in the 1960s. Colleen grew up going to festivals and learning the songs in the oral tradition. Continue reading
Karen Oberlin, an acclaimed singer of the Great American Song-book, will return to VIEW, the arts center in Old Forge, for a performance on Saturday, August 8 at 7:30 p.m.
Oberlin, who frequently entertains at the Algonquin, Café Carlyle, Feinstein’s, and 54 Below in New York City, will include popular tunes sung by Doris Day at her VIEW performance. Continue reading

Parker Snead’s dedication and leadership in improving Forestport has been outstanding and this is coming from someone who has seen many supervisors come and go in my 76 years as a Forestport resident.
A little over a week ago, the efforts of our Parker Snead reelection committee hit a snag when his only two highway campaign signs were stolen.

Betty LaRue Curri
Local Artist and Astrologer Betty LaRue Curri of Herkimer passed into the hands of the Lord beneath a Blue Moon, on Saturday August 1, 2015 at Westmount Health Facility with her daughters by her side.
Born in Ohio on March 12, 1928, Betty was the daughter of the late Beryl LaRue and Anna Grady Emrick.
An avid fisherwoman, Betty loved the abundance of catch on the St. Lawrence River where she and her husband Nicholas J. Curri of Utica spent many summers with their three children. Continue reading
