Mountain Man Encampment returns to Adirondack Museum

The American Mountain Men are returning to the Adirondack Museum for their annual museum encampment on Friday and Saturday, August 14 and 15 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

After traversing the wilderness of New York, Massachu-setts, New Hampshire, and Vermont, the Mountain Men will converge at the Adiron-dack Museum to pitch tents, build fires, cook rustic meals, and settle in for their annual encampment. New Adirondack Park website and mobile app promotes tourism in Upstate New York

New York State announced the launch of an interactive tool to promote tourism attractions, local businesses, recreational opportunities and events in Upstate New York.

The second and final phase of the Adirondack Park Recreation Web Portal Project was completed by the North Country, Mohawk Valley and Capital Regions working together with funds awarded through Governor Cuomo’s Regional Economic Development Council initiative.  Continue reading

4th Annual Old Forge Triathlon taking place at lakefront, Aug. 16

The Fourth Annual Old Forge Triathlon, an intermediate distance triathlon featuring a 1,000m swim, 22-mile bike, and a four-mile run, will be held Sunday, August 16.

The race, presented by Enchanted Forest Water Safari, will begin from Lakeview Ave., along the Old Forge lakefront, with the last wave of participants leaving at 8 a.m.  Continue reading
