Old Forge to host NY SAFE Act talk, Aug. 5

North Country Friends of the 2nd Amendment is holding an informational meeting on the NY SAFE ACT and other State & Federal Firearm laws, in Old Forge on Tuesday, August 5 at the Town of Webb Park Avenue Office Building.

This meeting, that starts at 7 p.m., is open to the public and admission is free.  Continue reading

One-way bridge traffic at Moose River remaining in effect, July 21 to Nov. 30

New York State Depart-ment of Transportation (NYSDOT) officials announced on Tuesday, July 15 that temporary traffic signals will be activated on the Route 28 Bridge over the Moose River in the Town of Webb.

In order to replace the bridge joints and repair the deteriorating substructure in a safe manner traffic will be restricted to a single lane during the construction. Continue reading

Old Forge Library’s annual Authors’ Fair set Tuesday, July 22

The Old Forge Library’s Annual Authors’ Fair will be held Tuesday, July 22 under a tent on the Forge Knoll overlooking Old Forge Pond.

Adirondack area authors will be available to sign and sell their books from 1 to 4 p.m. Continue reading

Webb completes Maple Ridge Fitness Trail

Personnel from the Town of Webb Highway, Public Works and Wastewater Treatment Departments recently installed three additional Fit Trail exercise stations—marking the completion of the Maple Ridge Exercise Trail.

The trailhead is located just off the TOBIE Trail along Park Ave., behind the Town of Webb School parking lot.

The exercise stations were made possible through a CAP-21 grant project funded through the Herkimer County Creating Healthy Places program.

County reps to visit Farmers Market

Representatives of Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) of Herkimer County Eat Smart NY Program will be at the Old Forge Farmers’ Market on Friday, July 18 to promote its Enjoying Local Produce program.

Recipes, food samples, and preservation ideas for using fresh produce will be shared along with the new 2014 Herkimer County Local Foods Map.

The Old Forge Farmers’ Market is held Fridays from 1 to 5 p.m. on Park Avenue, behind the Old Forge Hardware.

Inlet Community Church: Meet new Pastor and family at July 20th BBQ

The congregation of Inlet Community Church has welcomed Phil Huber to serve as their pastor.

Huber was a pastor for seven years in the Syracuse area before transitioning to a career in retail management for the last eight years.
