The Old Forge Garden Club will be taking a field visit to Hrobonis Greenhouse in West Leyden on Tuesday, June 10th. The trip will include a stop at Millcreek Nursery in Boonville and lunch at the Boonville Hotel.
Anyone interested in joining club members on the trip is asked to meet at View at 9 a.m. to car pool.

The Inlet Youth Commission is planning its annual Fourth of July Ping Pong Drop at Fern Park and is seeking donations for prizes for the hundreds of children who participate in this historic event.
Approximately 700 kids turned out for last year’s event. Ping pong balls are dropped by seaplane by Payne’s Air Service onto the baseball field and kids race to collect three balls to redeem for prizes. Continue reading
The artwork of Ally Cooper and Katie Kelly, students at Town of Webb School, tied for for the “Most Favorite Entry” award in the Old Forge Library’s Poetry and Illustration Contest, Times Gone By.
Cooper was recognized for her pencil sketch, Roman, and Kelly for her collage, Childhood – Adulthood – Elderhood.
The exhibit featured over 250 works that were on display from March 25 through May 22nd.
The project was funded by CNY/Arts, The Friends and the New York State Council on the arts.

On the south shore of Fourth Lake near the Herkimer/Hamilton County boundary is Holl’s Inn. According to a real estate ad in the Adirondack Express, the three story hotel on the 6-acre parcel closed in 2006.1
However, Holl’s Inn continued to advertise rooms and meals as late as 2008 and housekeeping cottages until 2009 in the local summer guides.
The hotel sold in 2013. Operating as Holl’s Inn since 1935, the hotel and its property has had a long history beginning with the first travelers to the head of Fourth Lake.
