Old Forge Garden Club plans field trip

The Old Forge Garden Club will be taking a field visit to Hrobonis Greenhouse in West Leyden on Tuesday, June 10th. The trip will include a stop at Millcreek Nursery in Boonville and lunch at the Boonville Hotel.

Anyone interested in joining club members on the trip is asked to meet at View at 9 a.m. to car pool.

Thendara announces Golf Scramble winners

The Opening Scramble at Thendara Golf Club was held Sunday, May 25th. The winners in the Women’s Low Gross category with a score of 81 were Linda Salin, Joyce Collins, Evelyn Ouellette and Nancy Buckley. Continue reading

Inlet seeking contributions for annual July 4th Ping-Pong Ball Drop

The Inlet Youth Commission is planning its annual Fourth of July Ping Pong Drop at Fern Park and is seeking donations for prizes for the hundreds of children who participate in this historic event.

Approximately 700 kids turned out for last year’s event. Ping pong balls are dropped by  seaplane by Payne’s Air Service onto the baseball field and kids race to collect three balls to redeem for prizes. Continue reading

Ally Cooper & Katie Kelly tie for Library’s favorite entry

The artwork of Ally Cooper and Katie Kelly, students at Town of Webb School, tied for for the “Most Favorite Entry” award in the Old Forge Library’s Poetry and Illustration Contest, Times Gone By.

Cooper was recognized for her pencil sketch, Roman, and Kelly for her collage, Childhood – Adulthood – Elderhood.

The exhibit featured over 250 works that were on display from March 25 through May 22nd.

The project was funded by CNY/Arts, The Friends and the New York State Council on the arts.
