Inlet Youth Commission ends summer programs with picnic

The Inlet Youth Commission’s summer programs ended its season with a picnic at Arrowhead Park on Thursday, August 8th. Many Old Forge Little League players and their families joined in the festivities.  IMG_8411

Coaches Nate Smith and Billy Keiser, tennis instructor Erik Ferguson and swim instructor Alicia Burnett, along with assistant Emily Parent, planned field games and relay races in and out of the water.

Inlet Supervisor John Frey grilled hot dogs and hamburgers for everyone as Youth Commission members Georgia Levi and Bonnie Lutz helped serve. Barb Murdock kept the popcorn coming. Awards and certificates were handed out after lunch.

Every participant received a prize from area merchants. The items were available from the very generous certificates and prizes from the Ping Pong Ball Drop.

Along with baseball, swimming and tennis instruction, the Youth Commission offered weekly programs in Inlet through Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts.

“This season, the Youth Commission summer programs were under the direction of the same coaches and instructors as last year. Participants and members all hope they will return for the 2014 season.

“The Youth Commission would like to thank the parents, the parks department and the town board for their continued support. Without this, we would not be able to provide these activities for our area youths,” said Youth Commission Director Mary Marleau.
