Inlet seeking contributions for annual July 4th Ping-Pong Ball Drop

The Inlet Youth Commission is planning its annual Fourth of July Ping Pong Drop at Fern Park and is seeking donations for prizes for the hundreds of children who participate in this historic event.

Approximately 700 kids turned out for last year’s event. Ping pong balls are dropped by  seaplane by Payne’s Air Service onto the baseball field and kids race to collect three balls to redeem for prizes.Prizes include gift certificates or prizes from local shops, free passes to local attractions, chips, sodas—all donated by local businesses—and toys purchased by the Youth Commission with the help of monetary donations.

Those wishing to contribute are asked to contact the Inlet Information Office at (315) 357-5501 by Tuesday, June 10. Donations can be dropped at the office or arrangements can be made for pick-up. Monetary donations, gift certificates and passes can be mailed to: Inlet Youth Commission, P.O. Box 412, Inlet, NY 13360. ertificates can be made up by the office  if needed.

The Ping Pong Ball Drop begins at 1 p.m. on Friday, July 4 and volunteers are needed. If you, or someone you know, can help on this day between 12:30  and 1:45 p.m., please give the Inlet Informa-tion Office a call at (315) 357-5501.
