Old Forestport Days festivities slated for Saturday, August 29

Old Forestport Days, a community day-long event that celebrates the downtown area of Forestport and the town’s 145th birthday will be held on Saturday, August 29,  rain or shine.

The focus of the festival, now in its 10th year, is to provide food, fun and festivities to kids of all ages in the area.  Continue reading

Pedals & Petals: Local retailer named one of America’s Best Bike Shops for 2015; second consecutive year in receiving distinction

Pedals & Petals of Inlet has been named one of America’s Best Bike Shops for 2015 by the National Bicycle Dealers Association (NBDA), according to an announcement made by the organization on Wednesday.

This is the second year in a row that Pedals & Petals has received this Industry-wide honor.   Continue reading

John Cahill Scholarship Fund aiding Town of Webb school golf program

The new John Cahill Memorial Scholar-ship Fund announced a series of new initiatives designed to support students throughout the area.

The new fund which is supported by The Ted Classic golf tournament at Inlet Golf Club is a partner with the Town of Webb Community Scholarship Fund.

Rob Budetti, one of the organizers of The Ted Classic, recently awarded the John Cahill Memorial Scholarship to Nicole Redpath, a 2015 graduate of Town of Webb, at Thendara Golf Club.  Continue reading

Tony-nominated play Arcadia, comes to VIEW

Pendragon Theatre will present the play, Arcadia, at VIEW’s Gould Hall on Monday, August 24 at 8 p.m.

Arcadia has been praised as the finest play from one of the most significant contemporary playwrights in the English language, Tom Stoppard.

It won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Play and was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Play in 1995. Continue reading

Gathering to honor memory of Kirsty Sutherland, Aug. 23

An All-Girls Cocktail Party, the third annual gathering to honor the memory of the late Kirsty Sutherland, will be held at the Eagle Bay Park camp of Deb and John Barry on Sunday, August 23 from 6 p.m.

The party, at 127 Eagle Point Rd., will include cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages and a variety of Kirsty’s signature appetizers. There will also be raffles for gift boxes and a handmade quilt.  Continue reading
