John Cahill Scholarship Fund aiding Town of Webb school golf program

The new John Cahill Memorial Scholar-ship Fund announced a series of new initiatives designed to support students throughout the area.

The new fund which is supported by The Ted Classic golf tournament at Inlet Golf Club is a partner with the Town of Webb Community Scholarship Fund.

Rob Budetti, one of the organizers of The Ted Classic, recently awarded the John Cahill Memorial Scholarship to Nicole Redpath, a 2015 graduate of Town of Webb, at Thendara Golf Club.

Nicole was recommended by school golf coach Louie Ehrensbeck for her outstanding sportsmanship and team spirit, as well has her skills as a golfer.

For this summer, Luke Monroe, a senior next year, and Thailer Ehrensbeck, a freshman next year, were the recipients of the first John Cahill Summer Golf Sponsorships at Thendara Golf Club.

Both Monroe and Ehrensbeck are members of the Town of Webb UFSD golf team, and the sponsorships are designed to enhance the opportunities for sportsmanship and the lifelong healthy living skills that golf develops.

Mike Cunningham, president of the Town of Webb Community Scholarship Fund, announced the summer golf sponsorships, and had praise for The John Cahill Fund.

“I am very impressed by the program that this new fund has designed for the kids in our area. The graduate scholarship is wonderful and generous, but along with  the summer sponsorships and equipment support over the year, the John Cahill Fund becomes  a very dynamic and impactful programmatic fund for kids of all ages.”

Budetti also announced a new equipment grant in the amount of $250 for Town of Webb’s golf team.

Last year’s Ted Classic generated over a $1,000, and Budetti thought it was important to put that money immediately to work for their mission.

“The graduate scholarship rewards long-term accomplishments, and the summer sponsorships and  equipment grants will provide support to younger golfers and help the team progress too,” he said.

This year’s Ted Classic will be held at Inlet Golf Club on Saturday, September 19, and there will be even more prizes, the 50/50 raffle, and other events.

The tournament is organized by four-person captain and crew, and welcomes golfers of all skill levels.

Dinner will follow the tournament, and everyone is welcome to the dinner.
