Nicole Redpath receives Robert Hazard scholarship

Susan Rimato presented Nicole Redpath with the Robert Hazard Scholarship on Friday, June 12 at Sisters Bistro in Old Forge.

The scholarship is awarded to a Town of Webb School graduate who has exhibited outstanding performance in art or music during their school career.

Susan Rimato and her sons, Rex and Remington, created the

scholarship to support young artists in the Adirondacks, and to celebrate the creative life of their late husband and father, musician Robert Hazard. Continue reading

Mountainman Outdoor Supply Co. to host SUP Demo Day, June 27th

Mountainman Outdoor Supply Company of Old Forge will sponsor an SUP Demo Day on Saturday, June 27 at the store’s Route 28 location from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and at the Old Forge Pond from 10 a.m to 4 p.m.

The event will include a race, clinics and free test paddling on what many feel is the most exciting new activity to hit paddlesports in decades.

The event is designed to introduce SUPs (Stand-Up-Paddleboards) to the Old Forge area.  Continue reading

Old Forge sorority chapter installs new officers

Members of Xi Gamma Iota, Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi of Old Forge met at the home of Judy Herron on Monday, June 15 for a dinner meeting and installation of officers for 2015 to 2016.

The installation was officiated by outgoing president Isabella Worthen. New officers are: Carolyn Trimbach, president; Hazel Dellavia, vice president; Gail Murray, recording and corresponding secretary; and Karen Beck, treasurer.

AYSO Picnic set for June 24

The Old Forge area AYSO invites all players and their families to the end of the season picnic on Wednesday, June 24 at 5 p.m. at the North Street soccer field.

Pizza will be provided by the Front Door Diner however players are asked to bring the following items: U-8 boys and girls – chips or snacks; U-10 boys and girls – drinks or juice boxes; and U-12 boys and girls – cookies or dessert items.   Continue reading

Old Forge Farmers’ Market starting eighth season on June 26

The Old Forge Farmers Market, located on Park Ave., behind the Old Forge Hardware,  will begin its eighth season on Friday, June 26. For the next 16 weeks until October 9—the Market will be open every Friday from 1 to 5 p.m.

Visitors to this year’s Market can expect the return of most of last year’s farm vendors, and some new vendors as well.  Continue reading

Niccolls: Sign up for Vacation Bible School

Niccolls Presbyterian Church invites all children and their families to Move, Act, Care, Follow and Share at G-Force: God’s Love in Action Vacation Bible School.

Children and adults will explore and experience serving God and others with active love.

The fun starts on Monday, June 29 with a light dinner and ends Wednesday, July 1. The program runs from 5:30 to 8 p.m. each day. Continue reading
