Old Forge sorority chapter installs new officers

Members of Xi Gamma Iota, Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi of Old Forge met at the home of Judy Herron on Monday, June 15 for a dinner meeting and installation of officers for 2015 to 2016.

The installation was officiated by outgoing president Isabella Worthen. New officers are: Carolyn Trimbach, president; Hazel Dellavia, vice president; Gail Murray, recording and corresponding secretary; and Karen Beck, treasurer.

Sorority sets Garage Sale benefit event

Old Forge Chapter Xi Gamma Iota of Beta Sigma Phi women’s sorority will be holding a Garage Sale on Saturday, May 24 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 2735 State Rte. 28 in Thendara, across from Bird’s Marine.

The sale will include furniture, household items, collectibles, glassware, games, and more.

Proceeds from the sale will allow the group to give back to the community through donations to local non-profits and assist with supporting other projects such as the Ginny Russell Scholarship Fund which is awarded annually to a graduating female senior at the Town of Webb School.

Xi Gamma Iota Local sorority chapter continues life, learning, friendship mission

Members of Xi Gamma Iota of Old Forge will celebrate the founding of the non-academic sorority, Beta Sigma Phi, at a dinner at The Grill Room at Thendara Golf Club on Friday, May 2nd.

Izzie Worthen of Old Forge, with the help of a sister chapter from Ithaca, launched the local sorority on January 1, 1967 after she and seven other like-minded women recognized the importance of having a non-sectarian group available to women in the community. Continue reading →
