Toddler Story Time and Spring Story Hour will be held at the Old Forge Library on Fridays from April 24 through May 29.

These free programs are a way to acquaint children with the library as they enjoy activities and interact with other children their age. Continue reading

Emergency volunteer shortage needs addressing sooner, not later

To the Editor: 

I read with interest the article concerning the study into the future of EMS and Advanced Life Support in the area. I was in attendance at the meeting and would like to contribute further to the discussion.

The problem that faces the area is by no means anything new. The entire industry (and it is a business) is facing a shortage of volunteers for a number of reasons. It is becoming more and more difficult to afford to participate for several reasons and are not unique to our neck of the woods.  Continue reading

Town of Webb Board of Ed. gathers for April 7th meeting

The Town of Webb UFSD Board of Education held a meeting on Tuesday, April 7, where it took the following actions—which are summarized here by the district and do not represent official minutes.

Approved the Minutes of March 17, 2015 Board of Education meeting.

Approved the Warrants and Claims.

Approved school holidays on Friday, May 22 and Thursday June 25, 2015 using two unused emergency closing days, unless needed earlier. Continue reading

Linking Lives reading program starts April 23

The spring session of the Linking Lives through Reading Program at the Old Forge Library is open to first graders in the Town of Webb and Inlet School Districts and home schooled students.  Continue reading

SHARP: Many events & activities slated for remainder of April

SHARP, the senior health, activities and recreation program, takes place at Niccolls Memorial Church in Old Forge from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Wednesday. We also enjoy special activities outside of our regular meeting day.

The program is open to all independent senior citizens from Woodgate to Raquette Lake, and is a free program unless otherwise noted. Lunch during our regular Wednesday sessions is provided by the Town of Webb Health Center Fund.  Continue reading

Old Forge Ballet Company readies new classes for plus-size dancers

The School of the Old Forge Ballet Company is offering a new class this spring for plus size male and female teens and adults.

A free trial class and registration will take place on Saturday, April 12 at 1 p.m. at the North Woods Community Center at 110 Crosby Blvd, the studio headquarters in Old Forge. Continue reading
