Old Forge Ballet Company readies new classes for plus-size dancers

The School of the Old Forge Ballet Company is offering a new class this spring for plus size male and female teens and adults.

A free trial class and registration will take place on Saturday, April 12 at 1 p.m. at the North Woods Community Center at 110 Crosby Blvd, the studio headquarters in Old Forge.

The 10-week class is tailored for the absolute beginner and those who haven’t danced in a while.

Exercises will be geared for safe movements for plus size bodies. Students can gain the strength, cardio benefits, stretching and stamina that ballet can deliver.

Tuition is $100 for the course with a $10 registration fee. Tuition may be paid in three installments of $33 per month for April and May and $34 for June.

Students are invited to come dressed in comfortable clothes such as sweats, t-shirt and leggings, socks or dance shoes.

Sue Ann Lorenz-Wallace, Director of the School and Artistic Director and President of the Company, who has had previous medical training, will be instructing the course.

The ballet school resides on the second floor of the North Woods Community Center.
