The Adirondack Paddlefest layout will change in 2015, when the event is held in Old Forge from Thursday, May 14 through Sunday, May 17, which will make the traditional closing of Lakeview Avenue unnecessary, according to event host John Nemjo of Mountainman Outdoor Supply Company. Continue reading

The Otter Lake and Old Forge Fire Depart-ments will open their doors to area residents on Saturday and Sunday, April 25 and 26 so they can learn about what it takes to be a volunteer firefighter in their respective communities as part of the fifth annual Recruit NY state-wide initiative. The Mission Boutique, the thrift shop in the basement of Niccolls Memorial Church, is currently closed until Friday, May 1 for cleaning and tidying up before the busy season resumes.
Mary Brophy-Moore, a Mission Boutique Leadership Team member, said the shop is typically closed for a couple weeks in the spring for removal of winter clothing and items that have been in the shop for a while. Continue reading

The Town Board held its monthly meeting on Tuesday, April 14, in Old Forge, where it discussed and resolved a number of issues from tobacco policy to local health services.
The Town of Webb Board resolved that a review of the Town of Webb Master Plan is necessary, and that interested community members, whose names were submitted by Planning Board Chair Marcia Barker, be appointed to serve on a Plan Review Committee. Continue reading

Councilman Mike Ross commended local emergency volunteer Dave Berkstresser for a fine letter that appeared in The Weekly Adirondack’s edition of April 9th, which highlighted issues relating to a local shortage of emergency response volunteers.
“A wonderful article, and I support [the effort] one-hundred-percent,” he said. “It’s obvious that we have to address this…and I thank him for that article, and [appreciate] the efforts of all those who are working on it.” Continue reading
The Town of Webb PBA and MAC’s Safe Ride would like to remind the public that the TIPS course will be available to area establishments free of charge on Wednesday May 13, at 11 a.m. at the Old Forge Fire Department.
Anyone wishing to attend must contact Officer Silverman by April 29 at (315) 369-3157 or 369-6515.
Space is limited. In order to attend and receive credit for the training reservations must be made in advance.
