Railroad vs. Recreation Trail: What’s wrong with fighting for both?

I have been a fan of the Old Forge area for more than 30 years, and enjoy everything about the Adirondacks except the flies, especially the outdoor recreation.

Adopt a Duck at CAP-21’s ‘Dunk-a-Duck’ event on August 9th

The 4th annual CAP-PY Duck Derby is scheduled for Sunday, August 31, in front of the Town of Webb Information Center.

This year there will be 13 Lucky Duck prizes and 13 lucky chances to win the $100,000 jackpot.

Fulton Chain of Lakes Assn. Annual Meeting set Aug. 16 at Woods Inn

The Fulton Chain of Lakes Association (FCLA) will hold its annual meeting at the Woods Inn in Inlet on Saturday, August 16th.

The meeting will begin with a cookout and live music at 6 p.m.

There will be a cash bar. All are invited to come by car or boat.

The cost is $5 for members and $10 for non-members, which includes a one-year membership to FCLA. Continue reading

Go-Kart Race: Sign up now for annual Calypso’s Cove charity event, Sept. 9

Established in 1994, the Calypso’s Cove Charity Go-Kart race seeks to raise money within the community for local organizations in need.

Hoss’s Country Corner hosting Ad’k authors

All are invited to come to the 30th Annual Adirondack Authors’ Night at Hoss’s Country Corner in Long Lake on Tuesday, August 12 from 7 to 9 p.m.

Known as the largest book event in the Adirondacks, the evening offers the opportunity to meet and greet more than 60 Adirondack authors, musicians and storytellers under a big red tent located behind the store at 1142 Main Street in Long Lake.  Continue reading

Big catch for a little guy

IMG_5307*******Alex Nicotera, 7, of Oceanside, CA caught an 18” bass while fishing with his Grandpa Rick Nicotera on Lake Tekeni on Wednesday, July 23rd.

His parents, Rick and Tracy Nicotera, also witnessed the angling feat. After posing for pictures, Alex released the fish back into the lake.
