Letter to the Editor: Candidate Hansen wrong to blame others for own botched petitions

Dear Editor:

A lot of false and misleading information gets tossed around in an election season, but unless the resulting disservice to voters hits a certain level, I generally don’t respond.

I’ve decided, however, to address a mischaracterization being circulated by my opponent.

In part, here’s what Jon Hansen wrote in a letter that’s been printed in several newspapers: Continue reading

Absentee ballots for the November 8 General Election are now in the mail, though behind schedule, according to Town of Webb Clerk Nanci Russell.

Still in search of leader APA’s Lani Ulrich drawing serious look as possible replacement for Curt Stiles

Following the abrupt resignation of Adirondack Park Association Chair-man Curt Stiles this summer, support for the appointment by Governor Cuomo of Commissioner Leilani “Lani” Ulrich of Old Forge as APA Chairman continues to grow.

Town of Webb offices to be decided Two-week Election Day countdown: CAA’s candidate event allows last side-by-side comparison of hopefuls

Rapid-fire format a departure from CAP-21’s earlier pre-primary forum

A second Candidates’ Night was held this week at Old Forge’s View—this time sponsored by the Central Adirondack Association (CAA)—with audience members getting a chance to hear Town of Webb hopefuls at a more advanced stage of candidacy, and Election Day just two weeks off.

The field of Webb candidates was only slightly smaller than CAP-21’s pre-primary event, with only George Hiltebrant missing.

Hiltebrant had elected to go all-or-nothing in the primary and was narrowly nixed by Democratic opponent Dave Berkstresser.

Making up the difference, however, on Tuesday, October 25, were the two candidates for Herkimer County Sheriff: Chris Farber, the incumbent, and Tim Klock.

Other candidates were those running for Town Supervisor—Richard Risley, Dave Berk-stresser, Ted Riehle, and Stuart deCamp. Continue reading
