Plenty of Halloween activities slated for Old Forge & Inlet

A variety of Halloween events, being hosted by local organizations, are scheduled to take place this weekend in Old Forge and Inlet, along with events at many local taverns, that will host parties with prize offerings for those in the best costumes.

• Community members of all ages are invited to the Old Forge Library’s annual Halloween Costume Contest and Party on Friday, October 28 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Prizes will be awarded in both the adult and children’s costume categories.

There will be refreshments, craft projects, and photos of each participant will be taken. Craft making will round out this festive event.

• The Inlet Youth Commission will host its annual Halloween Parade and Party on Friday, October 28.

Parade line-up begins at 6:30 p.m. at the parking lot between St. Anthony’s Church and the Church of the Lakes on Main Street.

Following the parade through town, all are invited to the Inlet Emergency Services Building for costume judging and refreshments.

• The annual Pumpkin Fest will be held at the Old Forge Fire Hall on Saturday, October 29 from 5 to 7 p.m.

The event offers an opportuninty for children and their parents to carve a pumpkin that they can bring home and display for Halloween.

There will be face painting, and cider and doughnuts will be available throughout the event.

The event is sponsored the Central Adirondack Association, Souvenir Village and Mountain Greenery.

• On Monday, October 31 the Old Forge Fire Department will host its Annual Halloween Parade and Party.

The parade will begin from the Old Forge Post Office at 7 p.m. and will end at the fire hall where children and adults will enjoy games, prizes, and plenty of Halloween treats.

Safe Late Night Transportation Services

• Screamen Eagle, B.J. Queen Enterprises and the Woods Inn will sponsor a Haunted Bus (aka S.S. Minnow) that will provide a safe ride in and around Eagle Bay, Inlet and surrounding areas, on Saturday night, October 29.

There will be scheduled stops to the Woods Inn and Screamen Eagle.

Alternate arrangements for pick-up and drop-off can be made by calling (315) 357-6642.

• MAC’s Safe Ride, which provides safe late night transportation in and around the Old Forge area, will also be running throughout the Halloween weekend. Anyone who finds themselves in a situation where they need a safe ride home can call (315) 369-8121.

Callers are asked to speak directly to a volunteer rather than by text or leaving a phone message as area cell service is not always readily available.
