Hearing Set: Inlet to discuss Wastewater Treatment Dist.

At the regular monthly meeting of the Inlet Town Board on October 11, a resolution to hold a Public Hearing regarding the Inlet Sewer District was adopted by a 5 to 0 vote.

The hearing is scheduled to take place during the monthly Inlet Town Board meeting on Tuesday, November 8 at 7:45 p.m.

The hearing has been scheduled because the original bids for the project were much higher than previously estimated by engineers, according to Inlet Supervisor John Frey.

“We have been trying to work with the contractor to lower the amounts that the low bidder came in with, but we are still going to need more funding on top of it. When we formed the district, we had included what we thought the price was going to be in the district formation papers,” Supervisor Frey said.

The public hearing will be held to discuss amending the funding amount for the Wastewater Treatment District No. 1 Project, as well as to begin the process of permissive referendum.

“We’re changing the terms and conditions. Even though the project is 75 percent grant funded, the cost to the user is going to be more,” Supervisor Frey said.
