Lieutenant Governor of New York, Kathy Hochul stopped by VIEW, the arts center in Old Forge, for a tour of the facility while passing through town on Wednesday, July 15.
“While I was in the area, I thought I would stop by VIEW, a place that draws forty-to-fifty thousand people per year. It is really great to have a destination for people who are vacationing up here and also to support the arts,” Hochul said. Continue reading
VIEW’s annual Secret Garden Tour will take place in Old Forge, on Thursday, July 23. The tour provides an opportunity to be guided through local pristine gardens at private residences within a 10-mile radius.

Pastel artist Ingrid Van Slyke of Lake Placid and Big Moose will lead a two-day workshop, Exploring Pastels from Beginning to End, at VIEW on Monday and Tuesday, August 3 and 4 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Van Slyke’s pastel paintings have been juried into numerous national pastel exhibitions, including the Northeast National Pastel Exhibition at VIEW. Continue reading

VIEW, the arts center in Old Forge, will present a program, An Evening with Suzanne Farrell: Exploring the Life of a Ballet Dancer in the Adirondacks, on Sunday July 12 at 5 p.m.
During the program, Farrell, a longtime seasonal resident of the Eagle Bay area, will speak to the audience and her ballet students will perform.
Farrell is one of the most celebrated muses of George Balanchine—regarded as the foremost contemporary choreographer in the world of ballet—and remains a legendary figure in the ballet world. Continue reading
Nick Ziobro, winner of the 2012 Great American Songbook Competition, will present an encore performance at VIEW, the arts center in Old Forge, on Saturday, July 18 at 7:30 p.m.
Ziobro, a 2014 graduate of Fayetteville-Manlius High School, performed before a sold out crowd at VIEW in July 2014.
Influenced by Frank Sinatra, Fred Astaire, and Louis Armstrong, he began singing and performing at a young age in the choir and vocal jazz ensemble, in addition to working in theater and dance. Continue reading
Barbara Green, owner and sole weaver of Adirondack Green House Basketry of Old Forge, will instruct a series of basket-making workshops at VIEW.
On Saturday, July 25 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Green will show students how to make an Oak Base Bowl Basket.
The cost is $60 or $50 for members of VIEW. There is also a $28 materials fee. Continue reading
