VIEW: Nick Ziobro returning for July 18th performance

2326628_orig*****Nick Ziobro, winner of the 2012 Great American Songbook Competition, will present an encore performance at VIEW, the arts center in Old Forge, on Saturday, July 18 at 7:30 p.m.

Ziobro, a 2014 graduate of Fayetteville-Manlius High School, performed before a sold out crowd at VIEW in July 2014.

Influenced by Frank Sinatra, Fred Astaire, and Louis Armstrong, he began singing and performing at a young age in the choir and vocal jazz ensemble, in addition to working in theater and dance.

Ziobro, the grandson of Janet and Ed Weidman of Old Forge, debuted his new CD, A Lot of Livin’ To Do, at Birdland in New York City in May 2014.

Michael Feinstein was his guest that evening along with jazz greats Bucky Pizzarelli, Jay Leonhart, and Ray Marchica, who were also part of the CD.

When he made his New York debut at Feinstein’s at Loew’s Regency onstage with Michael Feinstein and Marilyn Maye last year, The New York Times praised him for “an easy swinging confidence and charm that suggested he could evolve into another Michael Bublé.”

He spent a year as the Youth Ambassador of the Great American Songbook under the tutelage of Michael Feinstein, a five-time Grammy nominated recording artist.

This friendship led Feinstein to produce Ziobro’s album.

He also performed with the Pasadena Pops with Marvin Hamlisch, Benaroya Hall in Seattle, Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco, The Nugget in Reno, the Cincinnati Pops at Riverbend Music Center, and the Napa Valley Opera House and opened for B.B. King.

Ziobro also performed at the inaugural induction gala for the Great American Songbook Hall of Fame in June 2014 alongside Barry Manilow, Andrea McArdle, and Clay Aiken.

Tickets for the performance, which will be held in View’s Gould Hall, are $30.

Seating is limited and advanced sale tickets are recommended.
