Barbara Green to lead basket workshop at VIEW arts center

Barbara Green, owner and sole weaver of Adirondack Green House Basketry of Old Forge, will instruct a series of basket-making workshops at VIEW.

On Saturday, July 25 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Green will show students how to make an Oak Base Bowl Basket.

The cost is $60 or $50 for members of VIEW. There is also a $28 materials fee.

Incorporating a 5×8” slotted oak base, students will use a combination of sea grass and smoked reed to weave a lovely basket.

A Garden Basket with Braided Handle workshop is scheduled for Monday, August 10 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The cost is $60 or $50 for members of VIEW. There is also a $28 materials fee.

This is a large basket with a 10” by 20” base and braided handle.

The final basketry class for the season will be on Saturday, September 19 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. where students will learn how to make a Large Laundry-Style Basket.

The cost is $65 or $55 for members of VIEW.  There is also a $40 materials fee.

Weave a large laundry-style basket with color accents that is great for storing blankets or pillows.

VIEW is a multi-arts center located at 3273 State Rt. 28 in Old Forge, offering fun and educational workshops and activities for all levels of experience throughout the year.
