Lieutenant Governor of New York, Kathy Hochul stopped by VIEW, the arts center in Old Forge, for a tour of the facility while passing through town on Wednesday, July 15.
“While I was in the area, I thought I would stop by VIEW, a place that draws forty-to-fifty thousand people per year. It is really great to have a destination for people who are vacationing up here and also to support the arts,” Hochul said.
Executive Director Jennifer Potter Hayes led the group around VIEW, sharing goings-on that included current exhibits and workshops in session.
“I was blown away by VIEW. I had no expectations [of it being] so open, so welcoming,” Hochul said.
Hochul said she is interested in the galleries, and that she plans to return to VIEW this coming weekend.
“My husband and I will be joining the Governor at the Adirondack Challenge,” she said.
Governor Andrew Cuomo invites over 400 people from around the state to experience the joys of the Adirondacks, according to Hochul.
“It is so spectacular up here, people from all over come up here. I understand why people make this their home or recreational area,” she said.
Hochul spoke at a forum in Long Lake before visiting Old Forge. She finished the day traveling to Herkimer, where she visited the Herkimer Diamond Mine.
