VIEW, the arts center in Old Forge, will present a program, An Evening with Suzanne Farrell: Exploring the Life of a Ballet Dancer in the Adirondacks, on Sunday July 12 at 5 p.m.

During the program, Farrell, a longtime seasonal resident of the Eagle Bay area, will speak to the audience and her ballet students will perform.

Farrell is one of the most celebrated muses of George Balanchine—regarded as the foremost contemporary choreographer in the world of ballet—and  remains a legendary figure in the ballet world.

During her 28 years on the stage, she danced a repertory of more than 100 ballets, nearly a third of which were composed expressly for her by Balanchine and other choreographers, including Jerome Robbins and Maurice Béjart.

Her more than 2,000 performances with Balanchine’s company, her world tours, and her appearances in television and movies have made her one of the most recognizable and highly esteemed artists of her generation.

She is also the recipient of numerous artistic and academic accolades.

Since the fall of 2000, Farrell has been a professor in the dance department at Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL.

Admission is $20 for the general public, $15 for VIEW members, and $5 for children ages ten and under.
