Adirondack Renaissance Fantasy Festival Town of Inlet hosting inaugural event on July 11 and 12

Thimleberry for ADK FaireA man sits tuning a lute while two people juggle. Behind them, a contortionist is stretching to prepare for her bit… A woman dressed as a milkmaid calls the cast into order and the entire crew bursts into activity, song, dance, comedy and flow into panoply of excitement.

The Merely Players of Upstate New York are ready to conquer Inlet’s Adirondack Renaissance and Fantasy Festival, in Fern Park Saturday and Sunday, July 11 and 12, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Merely Players are just part of the fun to be expected in this free event. The Renaissance group, Arethusa, that is known to play over 40 different instruments in a set, will also perform.  Continue reading →

Invasive plant eradication efforts making great progress in Ad’ks

Efforts to eradicate the invasive plant Japanese knotweed from the Adirondacks are making great progress.

The Regional Inlet Invasive Plant Program (RIIPP) has expanded each year from 2008 to 2014 with the help of many dedicated volunteers, generous donations, and support from the town of Inlet, Hamilton County Soil and Water Conservation District (HCSWCD), Adirondack Invasive Plant Program (APIPP), and the Adirondack Watershed Institute.

From 2008-2014 the Town of Inlet took the lead, and in 2015, HCSWCD will coordinate efforts. Continue reading →

The Fulton Chain of Lakes Performing Arts Council, Inc. (FCLPAC) will present its 17th anniversary concert featuring the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra on Friday, July 24 under the tent at Inlet’s Arrowhead Park.

This year’s concert, which will be conducted by RPO’s Music Director Ward Stare, will carry the patriotic theme of America the Beautiful. Continue reading →

Inlet Area Business Association readies Black Fly Challenge

The Inlet Area Business Association (IABA) hosted 21 attendees for an “Information and Hors d’Oeuvres” meeting at the Seventh Lake House on Tuesday, June 2.

Board members voted to change the IABA bylaws by adding two positions to the board: Membership Chair and Inlet Information Office Representative.

Adding these two positions will make it easier for the board to ensure a quorum of three at regular meetings, said Dave Scranton, who announced the result of the recent email vote. Continue reading →

Inlet to host upcoming Bass Derby June 28th

The Town of Inlet will host a Bass Derby that will be held Sunday, June 28.

Contestants will fish the waters from Fifth Lake to Old Forge Pond for eight hours in hopes of catching the magic winning weight.

Boats will depart after a livewell inspection from the Inlet town dock in numerical order of their registration, in search of five legal black bass that may earn them cash winnings. Continue reading →
