The Inlet Area Business Association (IABA) hosted 21 attendees for an “Information and Hors d’Oeuvres” meeting at the Seventh Lake House on Tuesday, June 2.
Board members voted to change the IABA bylaws by adding two positions to the board: Membership Chair and Inlet Information Office Representative.
Adding these two positions will make it easier for the board to ensure a quorum of three at regular meetings, said Dave Scranton, who announced the result of the recent email vote.
The measure will now be presented to the full membership for approval at IABA’s September meeting.
The IABA membership drive has resulted in several new members joining since last month’s meeting, according to Scranton.
The Inlet Outdoor Family Challenge remains a work in progress, but still expected to be ready mid-summer with an official release date during Adirondack Kids Day on October 3, 2015.
The BFC Mountain Bike Rodeo & Races at Fern Park will be held on June 14. This is a family-friendly event with races and activities for all ages. Waivers must be signed by an adult in order to participate. Helmets are required for all events.
“Volunteers are welcome, but more importantly we want to see you and your family participating,” said IABA’s Adele Burnett.
Melanie Levi and Kathy Hansen shared information about the third annual Cousins That Care 5K Run/Walk which will be held on August 15. Last year about 80 people participated.
The Cousins That Care is a group of cousins who raise money and give to local people/families that have experienced a sickness or personal tragedy.
They also donate scholarships to Town of Webb seniors.
A Chinese Auction will be held at the Start/Finish line at The Ole Barn. A television prize is being offered and tickets can be purchased at The Ole Barn, where it is on display.
Anyone who sponsors this event or donates towards the Chinese auction will get their name on the back of the event shirts.
More information is available at thecousinsthatcare@yahoo.com. Registration for the run/walk will be open soon at www.cousinsthatcare.com.
Kathy Hansen also mentioned that the Cousins That Care Pancake Breakfast will be start at 8:30 a.m. on June 20 at The Ole Barn.
Cherie Landl reported on the renovation project at Deer Meadows motel and cottages.
Dave Scranton reported that a second edition of the Adirondack Elegant Ladies calendar is out and available at many local establishments for a $20 donation.
The 2016 calendar again features the familiar faces of women who work in the area.
Half the proceeds will go to Home Aide Service of the Central Adirondacks (HASCA) and the other half will go to High Peaks Hospice of Saranac Lake.
Ted Christodaro recently met with Michelle Clement of ROOST to talk about mountain biking and blogging.
He added that Inlet is seeking funds for a new website.
Michelle stated that ROOST might be able to help.
IABA members and the public are also urged to persuade Town Board members to target more funds to a quality website.
The IABA Raffle of a one-week stay at his Deerwoods Lodge was also discussed.
The prize package would include kayak rentals from Frisky Otter Tours, bike rentals form Pedals & Petals, beer & pizza from Screamen Eagle, for starters.
Plans for finalizing and promoting the event were discussed.
Because Reggie Chambers was not present, all agreed to make her chair of this committee.
Speaking of raffle tickets, a Salsa Mukluk 3 Fatbike, customized by Epic Outdoor Adventures, will be raffled off during Black Fly Challenge on June 13.
This bike is on display in the Inlet Information Office, where tickets can be purchased for $5 each or five for $20. Tickets will also be available during the BFC Post Race Party at Fern Park, where there will be live music by the band Showtime, along with food and beer.
There will be no meetings in July or August, so the next IABA meeting is scheduled for September 2, 2015.
In the meantime, questions or ideas can be directed to Adele Burnett at the Inlet Information Office, at (315) 357-5501 or emailed to info@inletny.com.
